L-Citrulline 3000, from Vitobest®, is a product especially recommended to help the body delay the sensation of fatigue caused by the formation of lactic acid in the muscle during physical activity.
L-Citrulline is a non-protein α-amino acid that acts as an intermediary in the synthesis of L-Arginine, the amino acid precursor of nitric oxide, which among its functions, transports nutrients and oxygen to the muscle. In addition, L-Citrulline acts as an intermediary in the metabolic pathway through which the body processes toxic nitrogenous derivatives from amino acid metabolism and generates urea (urea cycle).
However, its main function, at the sports level, is to influence the increase in bicarbonate levels, a substance that helps the body to neutralize the lactic acid that is produced when the muscle, which needs energy during exercise, transforms glucose into pyruvate to obtain it. Under anaerobic conditions (lack of oxygen), pyruvate is transformed into lactic acid (lactic fermentation) and acidifies the muscle (decreases its pH) causing a sensation of burning and muscle fatigue. It is then when bicarbonate, generated by the presence of L-Citrulline, acts as a buffer and neutralizes these effects.
L-Citrulline 3000 from Vitobest®:
Helps to neutralize muscle lactic acid, delaying the sensation of fatigue and improving sports performance.
Contributes to the elimination of toxic nitrogenous derivatives from amino acid metabolism, and to the detoxification of the body.
Acts as a precursor of L-Arginine and this, in turn, of nitric oxide which is responsible for supplying nutrients and oxygen to the muscle.
