The vitamin D3, commonly known as vitamin D or "sun vitamin" is a fat-soluble compound directly involved in the functioning of the immune system, bones, and muscles. Its main source is the sun: through contact with light, our skin can synthesize almost 80% of our daily needs.
Limited exposure to sunlight, age (as we age we lose the ability to synthesize it1), or that our kidneys cannot transform it to its active form in the body2; causes Vitamin D deficiencies and negatively affects our health.
