Ashwagandha, from Vitobest®, is a product made from ashwagandha extract (Withania somnifera). Also known as "Indian ginseng," this species is a millennial remedy used by Ayurvedic medicine both in its simple form and in combination with other herbs, to mitigate the effects of stress and inflammation, as well as to improve libido.
According to Nawab, J.D. author of "Pharmacologic overview of Withania somnifera, the Indian Ginseng"1: preclinical studies conducted to date show the possible antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, anxiolytic, cardioprotective and antidiabetic effects of this species, and of the dry extract of its root (the most used part).
Another research carried out on animal models explains that the root has relaxing, tranquilizing and adaptogenic effects that make it especially interesting to mitigate the effects of stress and anxiety, always as a complement to standard therapies. It even considers that in high doses it can help induce sleep2.
The scientific literature also highlights the content of withanolides in the leaves of Withania somnifera, classifying them as regulators par excellence.
